About

Glendy Hamilton was saved on January 6, 1976.  The last of thirteen children, he was born on February 3, 1950 in Tangerine, FL to Willie and Olivia Hamilton.  He made a profession of faith when he was 13 years old and was a “moral young fellow.”   After graduating from Phyllis Wheatley High School in Apopka, FL in 1968, he was accepted to Florida A&M.

In 1976, a classmate told him about a Bible study on campus.  After visiting one time, he was convicted of being a sinner and trusted Christ in his room that night.  He received the assurance of his salvation two weeks later.  From there, began a wonderful journey of growth in church and Bible study.

Glendy received his Master’s degree in Industrial Education from Florida A&M. Out of college and praying for whatsoever God wanted, led him back home to Tangerine.  There, he was introduced to the WTLN radio station and men of God, such as Oliver B. Green, Jewel Smith, Bob Ware, and many more.  At the time, Glendy was attending his family’s church, which was an AME Methodist church.

After buying a Study Bible, sending off for books, and going to independent churches, he left his home church in 1977 and joine a traditional Baptist church.  He received his call to preach from the bible in I. Timothy 3:1: “This is a true saing, if a man desired the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.”

Meeting a brother by the name of Jim Lyle, who knew Dr. Bob Ware was looking to help start an independent church in the inner city, was a leading by God.  While praying for the door to open, he encouraged three people to start with him on September 18, 1978 in Orlando, FL, the Harvest Baptist Church.  Those three members are still with Harvest Baptist today!

In 1988,  Glendy heard a tape by Dr. Bob Gray, pastor of the Longview Baptist Temple in Longview, Texas, and was moved to have him come to Harvest Baptist.  He was also encouraged on the matter of soul winning by Dr. Jack Hyles and Dr. Jerry Falwell.  After a visit by Dr. Bob Gray, the Holy Ghost so changed Glendy’s focus on soul winning that Harvest’s ministry is fueled by the question:  “If you died today, will you go to Heaven or Hell?”

Harvest Baptist is an excited independent ministry where soul winning is the main thing.  Since 1990, an average of 3,000 souls have prayed to receive Christ annually.    Personally, since 1994, Glendy has led at least one soul a day to the Lord Jesus.

Glendy says, “I am so thankful for God allowing me to lead His people in such a time as this.  Also, I am thankful for a group of godly deacons, teachers, bus workers, choir members, ushers, youth workers, and all that make up Harvest Baptist Church.”

  1. Too many people are tempted to walk about feeling regardless, worn or bored, but God created us for so much more! He planned us to be a portion of something larger than ourselves. He invites us to love Him with our total hearts and serve Him with all that we’ve been presented. It’s possible to be passionate without aim just as it’s feasible to have love but miss purpose. That is why attaining your aim and passion are critical to knowing the life God projected for you.
